Ask The Vet Radio host Dr. Tracy Dewhirst has practiced small animal and equine medicine in East Tennessee for over five years.  She’s worked at the Tazewell Pike and Beaverbrook Animal Clinics and as a relief veterinarian in numerous area hospitals.  Dr.    Dewhirst is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, and the Knoxville Veterinary Medical Association.

Tracy received her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from the University of Tennessee in 1994. She also spent an additional year studying veterinary medicine at Ross University in the West Indies on the Island of St. Kitts. Four years later, she was awarded a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine.  Tracy’s training included small animals, exotics, equine, and production animal medicine, giving her the diverse knowledge necessary to work with all varieties of pets.

Dr. Dewhirst recently appeared on DIY’s Weekend Entertaining television show offering advice about health and safety during pet gatherings. Tracy’s vast knowledge and experience puts her at the forefront of industry experts ready to help animal owners better understand the world of pets.

Dr. Tracy Dewhirst, her husband David and two young children live on a 120-acre farm in South Knox County with their cat, horse, and two dogs.
